For nearly 30 years, Zainab Mahomed has formed an integral part of Human Resource teams across KwaZulu-Natal - including 27 years with Tongaat Hulett. At Tongaat Hulettt Sugar she rose through the ranks to Human Resouces Manager from 2003 to 2013, before being transferred to Tongaat Hulett Sugar Corporate HR.
Zainab's passion for people development and her professional skills in partnering with Line Management make her an ideal Business Partner for future recruitment assignments.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Sociology, a diploma in Personnel Management, a Post Graguate qualification in Industrial Relations as well as an in-depth experience in managing human resources for various Tongaat Hulett operations and Corporate ofice. Zainab is ideally positioned to help business owners secure key personnel to take their companies foward.
Zainab handled extensive recruitment portfolios within the Sugar
Milling Operations during her time as Assistant HR Manager
and later HR Manager. She also managed an HR Team including
professionals. Zainab has an excellent understanding of the factory
environment and intensive experience in recruiting at all technical
levels including management appointments, and has played a key
role in recruiting for Tongaat Hulett Sugar’s national operations. She
has also been instrumental in the recruitment and development of
women in key positions within the Sales and Marketing Division of
Tongaat Hulett.
Her vast exposure to all areas of sugar milling and refining
operations, as well as sales and marketing, give her a competitive
edge in understanding the business of future clients, both from a
recruitment and an employee development perspective.
After transferring to the Corporate Office Zainab co-ordinated the recruitment process for the Strategic Sourcing Function, which was a new area of business for Tongaat Hulett. She also led an intensive recruitment drive for their Technology Department recruiting mid to senior level engineers from various disciplines, as well as recruiting for their Business Services Department, where she placed a number of Black female candidates with excellent long term development potential for the Business.
